Settling into a life...

Mummy is starting to settle into life. Previously, it was just eat and sleep. Now, at least I do more stuff like read the papers, go online, read books and mags. All these besides feeding Titus and sleeping. Thank God.

Boy is growing and developing well. Am now staying at mum's place together with the whole brood. Thank God! More people to help take care of boy when he needs it. More people to give him the attention he wants too! All of us, boy included, are thankful for the company.

Looking forward to spending more time with my precious. Yesterday played the piano for him during his waking hour. Played some Mozart and Bach, and my intelligent boy attempted to conduct mummy with his little hands! After which I played his fav worship songs... Amazing grace, Jesus loves me this I know, How great is our God, and He's the Lord of the Sunshine. And my precious fell asleep just like that. Awww...So sweet!!!

Ok...I gotta go eat my lunch before he awakes.. tata for now!

Circumcision

Baby Titus had his circumcision yesterday. He was 8 days old. We did it in accordance with the bible.

So anyway, it was a long day. Brought him to the clinic early in the morning. Took all my will power in managing time properly that morning so that we won't be late. Appt at 9am!!! Thank God we were there on time. Did the admin stuff, and brought Titus into the operating theatre. We had a very surgeon..Dr Gong. Cute surname! And he looked hip for his age! His build reminds me of the big guy in Every Loves Raymond. He had an interesting little ponytail. haha. Continuing on. I brought Titus into the operating theatre; he was sleeping peacefully. Then i went outside to wait together with my mum. Oh gosh, a while later we heard him yelling in pain! Apparently he was given a local anesthetic. So he hurt like anything. Poor guy.

After the operation we took him back and the poor guy was still pretty much shaken by the process. We were told that he peed over the operating table. Carried him real close to keep him safe and secure and breast fed him at the clinic.

Brought him home to Mt Faber to rest as mum brought me for my long-awaited hair wash!!!Yesh!!!!! Finally could wash my hair!!!!! Thanks mum!!! After 1 freaking wk of grime and dirt in my hair, the wash was great!

Felt a little sad at leaving Mt Faber to return home to where MIL was. Sigh. But what to do. Right now, I'm just counting down to the day she will leave. There's 18 days left. Jia You!! Only need to tahan her presence for 18 more days! After which we will stay at Mt Faber for abt 2 wks.

I'm so looking forward to ticking off the days on my calender, seeing the numbers diminish, counting down to the day she will leave. God please grant me strength!

Boy is 1 week old!

I'm so proud of my baby Titus. Each time i look at my baby, i am reminded of how God's saw us both through the entire labour process and safely brought him out.

Went straight to the labour ward last sunday evening at 8pm. Checked-in. so classy hor? mum and dad sent us there and prayed for us before we went in. needless to say, my "last" meal was sunday's dinner, which was eeky fried rice. yucks. of all the things to put in the fried rice, my MIL cooked it with long beans, just the way I don't like my fried rice. Oh well, what to do? sigh. Entered the labour ward, was checked and hey, there were already mild contractions. Lots of paper work to verbally complete with the nurse. Wah... good thing this was no emergency..so many questions to answer! supper was provided, after which I was given medicine or whatever you call it to get my big business out smoothly. And yeah, by God's grace, it brought me to the toilet twice. Powerful stuff! At midnight, was put on the drip, and just waiting to dilate. So I just lay there and tahan the whole night, with the nurses coming in once in a while to check on me and help to empty my bladder.

At around 5am or so on Monday morning, I decided to finally use the epidural after all the tahan-ing from the night. Plus the lady in the next ward was like starting to cry out in pain. Listening to her was bad. But thank God for her... it made me decide on epidural. And i received the jab at around 5.30am.

Things moved pretty fast from then on. The contractions increased. And as Dr Chan came to check on me, she upped the count on my drip each time. And at 2pm or so (I think)...I lost rack of time lah...she decided that it was TIME!!!!!!!!

Nurses came in, Doc wore some operating gown, all instruments came out, which I dared not really look at. Jim was directed to stand behind me. A pair of stirrups thingy came out to support my legs. By then, the epidural was fully set in and I felt minimal pain, just discomfort cos my legs were so numb. OK. Here goes. Doc calling me to push, nurses guiding Titus out by pushing my tummy south, Jim helping by pushing my head down, Doc reminding me to breath properly. So difficult! Nurses changed hands and sides a few times. Jim bravely never wavered despite the bloody scene before him. Me trying to push Titus out. And after cutting me up down there, doc was reminding me that if baby still couldn't get out, i would have to go thru C section. wah lau!!! I so tried to push after that!!! And by the grace of God, baby Titus saw the world at 2.45pm on Monday 6 Oct 2008! Epidural, vacuum, forceps...just to see my precious boy!

Ok....will update with more stuff some other time. I have been taking pictures of Titus every day. He's getting smarter, and looking more handsome each day. I so feel for him, especially after he was warded for jaundice for 2 days and nights, thurs night and fri night, which were days 3 and 4 of his life. I missed him so much during those days. It was heart-breaking to not see him in his cot, but in the hospital under the light. I went as much as I could to the hospital to visit him and to breast feed him, the least I could do for my boy. It was heart wrenching to see him under the light, especially when the nurses stripped him to put him under the light. I could only cry silently as my boy struggled in discomfort, naked under the light. Sigh. If only I could be with him all the time.

Anyway, back to my intelligent boy. Last night, he bravely gave a huge burp after i encouraged him and told him it was all right to do so. And the burp came out, together with some milk, which I think he was trying to hold in, in case he got me worried. But after encouraging him, and telling him that mummy would clean up after him, the most beautiful sound of the burp came. together with some milk which he was gentlemanly trying to hold in to preventing staining mummy. I was so proud of him! And my intelligent boy gave a similar burp this morning. He's learning well and fast!

Oh well, now gotta prepare to clean myself up. Gonna bring boy for his check up.

Current mood: thankful to God
Current music: any beautiful sound coming from my boy

Still enjoying life...

Baby On is still enjoying life inside mummy! And mumy is still enjoying the wonderful, indescribable feeling of having him kicking inside. This intelligent baby is kicking as of now, as if he knows what mummy is typing. Wow! My baby is amazing! As i was singing to him last night, he was kicking in rhythm. Cool! I'm so gonna miss these internal movements.

On the other hand, I just wanna let off some steam now. Frustration. Annoyance. I don't like to repeat myself. Especially 4, 5 times. I don't like it when you ask me the same question 4, 5 times in a row. And when i give you an answer, you make me repeat myself. sometimes i feel like a nutcase talking to you. sometimes i wonder who the deaf one is. sometimes i wonder if you are doing this on purpose. Sometimes i wonder if you just have selective hearing and choose to hear the reply only on the 5th time. it is annoying. i can't take this for long. don't push me to my limits. it's been almost a week, and my patience is starting to run dry. i'm wondering how long i can take this. so, don't you push me to my limits. i thought i was going crazy last night after you retired for the day. i kept hearing your voice in my head, going on and on. it was getting too much for me to bear, and i had trouble getting to sleep. Scheisse! Sei still!

Ridiculous piano tuner!!!

Today was the 3rd time the piano tuner came down to fix the piano...the 3rd time in a mere 1 week. Sigh. Everytime he comes down these few days, a new problem arises. He came to tune the piano last Fri, saying that my piano was due for tuning. Ok. So he came and tuned the piano and left. The day after, I was practicing the piano and discovered that some notes sounded strange. It was as if the hammer was hitting a cymbal inside the piano as it struck the strings, hance the "extra" sound. So, I called the tuner and tld him that some notes sounded not quite correct. And so he arranged for 2nd visit.

2nd visit. Tuesday. I tried my best in my layman terms to explain the cymbal-like sound that occured whenever a note was being played. This occured mainly in the octave above the middle C range. But he simply couldn't hear the difference. I was starting to get pissed. Hey, I am not a tuner. I can only explain the problem in my layman terms. So anyway, towards the last few minutes of the entire appointment, he finally understood the problem I was facing. As he was in a rush for a 2nd appoinment, he arranged to return another day. I explained that my baby was due anytime soon, and hoped that he would return asap to solve the problem.

3rd visit. Today. Wednesday. Early morning, I was practicing the piano and realized that the problem still existed. I got hubby to listen to the problem and he could tell that it was not right as well. So, anyway, piano tuner arrived in the afternoon. When he arrived, i again tried to explain that problem. I also played the piano to let him hear the strange "paper" sound that was sounding (which should not be there at all). With the piano all intact, the problem existed. But when he dismantled the piano, the problem slowly disappeared. So, this went on for a while...the dismantling and fixing of the piano. Until the "paper" sound disappeared. I suspect the problem occured cos he didnt fix piano back properly the last time. Damn. Cause me so much problem.

So anyway, just when he thought that all was well, I decided to test the piano before he left to ensure everything was ok. Guess what? New problems! Other notes gave me problem. Now it was a diferent problem. The notes had extra reverberation after being played!!! And it was obvious!!! So there I was, playing the note(s) for him to hear, and explaining that this should not be happening. And the annoying thing is, he was just standing there, insisting that everything was fine, and insisting that he couldn't hear what the problem was. The aspect that REALLY got me annoyed was when he started to imply that I was the trouble maker cos he himself could not hear any problem. And when he asked my hubby (who was in the same room doing his own stuff), even my hubby couldnt hear any problem. DUH!!! I'm the musician here. And I'm the one standing right at where middle C is. And I can hear the reverb loud and clear.

So anyway, I got really pissed off at him and his deafness and started to show black face. What kind of piano tuner are you if you can't hear a simply problem like that? And you don't have the right to criticize your client, when it is your inability to hear. I was fed up and gave up explaining. He also started packing up, still insisting that he couldnt hear any problem with my piano. Irritated by then, I just showed him out.

MIL returned soon after. I decided to see if a layman likt MIL could hear the problem. I played one note for her to listen, and explained that the note I just played was a "good" note with no problem. Then, I played my problem note and asked her what she felt. Good or no good? And straightaway, MIL could tell that 2nd note was indeed a problem note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conclusion 1: I have a lousy piano tuner whose listening ability sucks, and who puts the blame on the client, implying that the client is hearing things.

Conclusion 2: My listening ability is good. Not that I'm boasting, but in this line, whether you teach or deal with the technicalities of your instrument, you need good listening skills. You need to know if the instrument is functioning well or not. Which in this case, the tuner failed miserably. Thank God for my ability to hear.

I am so never gonna get this guy to tune my piano ever.
